 FAQs

  • I aim to respond to all inquiries within 14 business days. Please wait until 14 business days have passed before following up with me.

  • I primarily work with poets. You do not need to have a background in poetry to work with me, though. Many of my clients are beginner poets and may have experience writing in other genres. Anyone interested in learning more about poetry is a great fit.

  • I have a strict no refunds policy. I have done my best to clearly explain the services offered. Please read all of the details to be sure you are signing up for the service best suited to your needs. If you have any questions about a service, feel free to ask me via the contact form.

  • Yes and no--it depends. I do not specialize in traditional Western poetic forms (like the sonnet, villanelle, pantoum, etc.). However, I strongly believe that the ways we talk about "form" often privilege restricted structures and reinforce elitist, supremacist ways of thinking. I can help you identify the forms you currently use in your writing and help you explore other types of forms that may be useful to your practice (like the definition poem, the epistolary, concrete, run-on sentence, etc.)

If you are looking for a traditional forms class, I am not the right person for you! But if you are open to learning about form in a more expansive way, I got you. :)

  • No. My services are offered as alternatives to MFA programs, which cost college tuition and often require you to move across the country to attend a creative writing program where you might learn some of these things. Since I am offering intentional one-on-one services that *ensure* you will get something useful out of them, I am asking for a reasonable price. These services are priced with affordability in mind.

If you are looking for cheaper services, consider joining my Patreon as a monthly supporter. I post detailed writing prompts, advice for writers, sample grant applications, reading recommendations, and host co-writing sessions on Zoom four times a month.

I share plenty of free resources on my social media @ArianaThePoet and on the Freebies page of my website. I have also taught a free virtual workshop series which is archived here.

  • Yes! You can also buy copies of my poetry books, which help keep them in print.

What my clients say…

Kal Marquiz says…

"What I got from Ariana in one casual conversation was the ability to be intimate with my artistry in a way that had been coaxed out of me by writing workshops."

Lydia Crooks says…

"To be honest, I've paid more for a single session with a therapist, which required me to do a fraction of the personal excavation and offered much less guidance in the process..."

Edwin Maldonado says…

"My favorite part was the process of working with Ariana... the regular prompts, the discussions, the examples, and the connections from some of the great poets to the work we were building together."

Rick D’Elia says…

"Ariana had so many nuggets of encouragement and support about trusting your instincts and intuition, about craft and reading critically and analytically."

Julian Randall says…

"Worth every penny."

Amanda Torres says…

"My favorite part was experiencing Ariana's gentle, thoughtful and generous way of noticing and tending to my ideas and work."
